Meet our Counsellor
To live blissfully is to live our desired happier lives unapologetically.
My name is Maria Mkango. I am a registered social worker (RSW), a Ph.D. student (in Health Sciences) at the University of Northern British Columbia, and I have a Master of Social Work (MSW - clinical focus) from the University of Northern British Columbia. I bring eight years of experience working with children, youths, and families. My practice is culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive. I am committed to creating an empathic therapeutic space, forming egalitarian relationships, and using holistic lenses in my practice. In the therapeutic session, I work from client-centred, harm reduction, and strength-based frameworks. I enjoy integrating the strengths of CBT, DBT, ACT, and other evidence-based therapeutic modalities in practice. I look forward to joining you in your journey to self-discovery, growth, and wellness.
